BlueIoT: Safer AGVs and high-precision positioning systems for high-speed rail

With nearly 40,000 kilometers of dedicated high-speed rail lines, China now has the world's largest high-speed rail network. And it's not done cementing its position as the world's rail transport powerhouse. Its latest discovery? BlueIoT, an adaptive, stable and ultra-precise positioning system.

TGV is one of the four most popular inventions in the world by China. This railway network, consisting of 4 north-south lines and 4 east-west lines, now covers almost 92% of cities with more than 500,000 inhabitants. And, it will undoubtedly continue to expand, making public transportation more accessible.

In addition, realizing that the high-speed rail system is a relatively complex spatial structure that requires a higher level of security, China once again took the lead in launching BlueIoT. What is its mission? Ensure the highest level of safety for all trains and railway maintenance points.

    A high-precision positioning system

To perform its tracking tasks effectively and efficiently, BlueIoT embeds different layers, each with its own functionality. The hardware layer is responsible for locating anchors and beacons. The network layer sends the data collected by the anchors to the data parsing center. The latter calculates the position of a beacon.

Once complete, all location data for trains, maintenance personnel, equipment and tools is displayed in 2D or 3D at the application layer. Its different layers of BlueIoT together enable ultra-precise positioning and optimized train management. In addition to this, there is an onboard location tag. The latter can record in real time when trains come and go. Also identify exactly which track the train stops on.

    BlueIoT: Powerful Features

In addition to the function of locating trains, the BlueIoT system is also designed to enhance the safety of daily maintenance personnel. This is achieved by monitoring the location of each technician in real time. And that, as long as they wear their localized badge or bracelet. This allows emergency services to intervene immediately in an emergency.

In addition, the BlueIoT high-precision positioning system can limit the time lost in finding various equipment and tools stored in the maintenance center. This is thanks to asset tracking tags that can be affixed to intralogistics station AVGs (autonomous navigation robots) and even robots.

Finally, BlueIoT aims to standardize workflow and improve maintenance efficiency. Especially by adapting to different intelligent control scenarios. Specifically, when assigning inspection tasks, all settings are saved. These include the arrival time of the inspector, the duration of the inspection, the area inspected, and the trajectory. Then, compare different parameters to guarantee better quality of work.
